This Saturday morning cartoon was based on the movie of the same name. Actually, the series takes place after the first direct-to-video sequel, The Return of Jafar. In the first movie, a street rat (figuratively speaking) named Aladdin and his pet monkey Abu get mixed up with a wisecracking Genie, and royalty and magic, and they fight villains and stuff. And Aladdin falls in love with a beautiful princess named Jasmine. It was all pretty cool. And basically, the series is just more of the same, but with a wider array of characters and adventures (my favorite new villain would probably have to be Mirage, rowr). Of course, there's also a funny talking parrot named Iago, who was an enemy in the first movie, but he became an ally in the second movie and the series (albeit a somewhat self-centered one). And I should mention that in the first movie, the Genie was voiced by Robin Williams, but in the second movie and this series, he was voiced by Dan Castellaneta. I believe all the other voices are the same, though. Not sure what else to say, except that I liked the theme song, "Arabian Nights", which I guess was also used in the first movie, though I remember it better from this series.
Followed by the second direct-to-video sequel, The King of Thieves, which serves as a finale to the series.
