A band that formed in Hawthorne, California, in 1961. Founding members included Brian, Dennis, and Carl Wilson, Mike Love, and Al Jardine. They are most commonly associated with surf rock, and they were the biggest American rock band of the 1960s, rivaling the British band The Beatles. (They are not to be confused with Jan & Dean, another popular surf rock group of the time.)

The Very Best of the Beach Boys: Sounds of Summer
AllMusic; Amazon; Apple Music; Discogs; Wikipedia
This is a greatest hits compilation that was originally released in 2003. I got it in 2026. My copy was released in 2022, but it has the original track listing (albeit with some stereo mixes from 2021), whereas there was an expanded, three-disc edition that was also released in 2022. There was also a re-release in 2004 that includes a DVD. (Note: most sites put "The Very Best of the Beach Boys" after "Sounds of Summer" in the album's title, but I do it the way the title appears on the CD.)
