It's hard to say exactly what I mean by "art films". You could check out an article about it on Wikipedia, but I dare say I'll include any number of films in this category that Wikipedia doesn't, based on my own sensibilities. And maybe if I see some films that they do call "art films", I won't list them here, but in some other cateogry. They do tend to be independent films, but they don't have to be (and certainly there are plenty of indies I wouldn't call "art films"). They may tend to be for niche audiences, but some things I consider art films may just as well appeal to larger audiences. So yeah, I don't really know what my criteria even are, but I know when I feel like calling a movie "art". (Not that all movies aren't art, but some are more artistic than others, you know?) Whatever.
